Extreme Temperature Diary- Monday February 15th, 2020/ Main Topic: Summaries For Major U.S. CAT 5 Cold Wave Yeti (Part One)

The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track United States extreme or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😉

Main Topic: Summaries For Major U.S. CAT 5 Cold Wave Yeti (Part One)

Dear Diary. As described on this blog a buckling jet stream influenced by climate change has trapped a significant pool of Arctic air over most of the nation. I’ve dubbed this cold wave “Yeti,” which is currently interacting with the TWC dubbed “Winter Storm Uri.” A second major winter storm will spin up in the south-central U.S. starting on Wednesday and produce more misery basically along Uri’s path.

Today I will be presenting many climatological notes on both Yeti and Uri, which have a lot of woe factor for climo and met science nerds like yours truly. Stay warm and safe out there. I only issue CAT4 and above rankings for extreme life threatening conditions. Be sure to check on the elderly and pets this week. Here are those summaries:
