Extreme Temperature Diary- Sunday April 24th, 2022/Main Topic: Another Coming Deadly Asian Heatwave

The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track planetary extreme, or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😉

Main Topic: Another Coming Deadly Asian Heatwave

Dear Diary. As opposed to the United States, which has its hottest weather from June through August, Southern Asia, in particular India, has its most torrid times from late April into May, just before drenching monsoon rains douse the heat by June or July. Climate change is making the transition from a dry heat to humid conditions more intense, setting records for extreme heat then in some instances setting heavy precipitation records, flooding many.

Already this season there was a heat wave that raised some eyebrows from the sub-continent area:

Maximiliano Herrera has alerted us that a new heatwave will be occurring across India extending eastward across China and Japan this week:

I can confirm that Max should be correct looking at 500 millibar forecasts. The coming heat dome will be very extensive across southern Asia before breaking down somewhat by next weekend:

Here are this morning’s updates:

I’ll be posting usual “ET” reports from this week’s Asian heatwave from Max. Also, we’ll keep tabs on when the heat wave breaks via the advent of the monsoon and if that event produces rainfall records.

Here are some other “ET’s” recorded over the last couple of days plus some hot forecasts:

Here is more climate and weather news from Sunday:

(As usual, this will be a fluid post in which more information gets added during the day as it crosses my radar, crediting all who have put it on-line. Items will be archived on this site for posterity. In most instances click on the pictures of each tweet to see each article. The most noteworthy items will be listed first.)

Now here are some of today’s articles and notes on the horrid war on Ukraine:
