The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track planetary extreme, or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😜
Main Topic: China and Japan Warming Rapidly in a Climate Changing World
Dear Diary. Yesterday on the first day of meteorological fall I got an astounding note concerning China and Japan from weather historian Maximiliano Herrera:
And astounding heat continues into September:
As I’ve long suspected, many other portions of the world are warming faster than the United States due to climate change, and that would include China and Japan. Perhaps this is due to Asia being the largest land mass, but I’m scratching my head to come up with answers.
In any case, a heat dome over the two countries seems to keep going on and on as opposed to what happens here in which numerous heat domes build then collapse over the course of summer:

Note the large area of above average 500 millibar heights depicted in orange.
The associated marine heatwave now extends from coastal Asia all the way eastward to North America:

We will stay on top of Asian climate trends going into 2026.
Here are more “ETs” recorded from around the planet the last couple of days, their consequences, and some extreme temperature outlooks, as well as any extreme precipitation reports:
Here is More Climate News from Tuesday:
(As usual, this will be a fluid post in which more information gets added during the day as it crosses my radar, crediting all who have put it on-line. Items will be archived on this site for posterity. In most instances click on the pictures of each tweet to see each article. The most noteworthy items will be listed first.)
