Extreme Temperature Diary-June 27, 2019/ Historic European Heat Wave…Day Two (Thursday)

Thursday June 27th… Dear Diary. The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track United States extreme or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😉

Historic European Heat Wave…Day Two (Thursday)

You might have noticed that when a major climate crisis related weather phenomenon stretches over several days I will drop other main highlighted topics, relating news from the event over several days with titles of day two, day three, etc. The last such item was Hurricane Michael from 2018, which I archived each day of the event under “Categories” on this web site. Perhaps there are some news or meteorological notes listed within separate categories that could prove useful both from the evolution of Michael, and other grouped under “Categories,” and now this heat wave from 2019.

I’ll be posting many news and met items on the now historic European Heat Wave of 2019 the next several days, which I will archive under a new separate category. I’ll stop once heat moderates some in Europe by early next week, but there maybe other items listed on subsequent days of next week and beyond as news services catch ramifications from the heat wave such as drought and effects on crops. Some Twitter notes may be in either French or German, but all I post use Microsoft translations. As always, I’ll be adding notes as the day progresses:

Here are notes on building heat in the United States:

Stifling heat mostly just below record levels will be building across the Plains and Midwest on Friday:

Here is more climate and weather news from Thursday:

(As usual, this will be a fluid post in which more information gets added during the day as it crosses my radar, crediting all who have put it on-line. Items will be archived on this site for posterity. In most instances click on the pictures of each tweet to see each article.)
