Thursday August 20th… Dear Diary. The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track United States extreme or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😉
Main Topic: Western Heat Wave #Beelzebub Persists While Atlantic Tropical Threats Grow
Dear Diary. I don’t like what my meteorological tea leaves are showing today. The threat from wildfires in the West continues with no end in sight looking at how strong Heatwave Beelzebub will remain, particularly in California. Now we have two depressions in the Atlantic that could potentially grow into fierce storms. All guidance tracks T.D. # 13 and #14 towards Florida and the Gulf Coast.
At least the area in the West under heat advisories has shrunk some from that of yesterday.
Northern California, which has taken the brunt of wildfire activity, no longer has heat advisories.
Today, as usual, I will be linking both heatwave and tropical threat articles and notes from experts to this post. The latest information, which will be updated, will appear at the top of this list:
