The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track planetary extreme, or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😉
Main Topic: A Continuously Record Hot Asia
Dear Diary. Nearly every day I see notes from climatologist Maximilliano Herrera that record temperatures have been smashed in Asia. Yesterday was no different:
Ridiculous warmth persists in East Asia
— Extreme Temperatures Around The World (@extremetemps) October 26, 2024
Tropical nights in Japan and Koreas and summer-like temperatures
MINIMUM temperatures was 22.0C at Seongsan in South Korea,21.6C at Sogwipo and 21.0C at Jeju.
Summer temperatures will persist into November and break hundreds of records. pic.twitter.com/8kkAFlaYzq
2) ASIA RECORD HEAT

Exceptional October in #Pakistan
Today 42.0C at Nawabshah,41.5C Hyberabad and Tando Jam, also 39.4C at Karachi on the coast.
In Middle East big contrasts between the early cold in the North and the record heat in the South:
Minimum temperatures are still >30C https://t.co/0GxJwWjIdR
So briefly today let’s check the mid level of the atmosphere 500 millibar pattern over the area. Here is what we saw yesterday when those referred to were set:

There are an awful lot of anomalously positive 500 millibar heights on the above chart as indicated by orange and red colors, particularly over Korea and Japan.
The forecast for this coming week is not that much different:

Notice that a typhoon will be moving close to if not into Taiwan, as well.
Today there are more records from Asia:
And exceptional heat also in PAKISTAN

Up to 42.4C at Nawabshah, it has never been that hot so late in the year in India,Pakistan and the Arabian Peninsula.

We have a positive feedback loop going on across east Asia, with record warmth causing record sea surface temperatures around the continent, which in turn supports more surface records…all thanks to our carbon pollution bringing on climate change:

You can keep an eye on any Asian reports in the following segment on each past and future daily diary post, and there have been plenty just about every day from this year:
Here are more “ETs” recorded from around the planet the last couple of days, their consequences, and some extreme temperature outlooks, as well as any extreme precipitation reports:
