Dear Diary. I seriously did not know that Trump hadn’t already scraped all of the climate regulations from the Obama and Biden eras, but some did thankfully remain in place under the nose of the orange menace…but not for long. In one of the worst environmental moves of his corrupt administration, Trump plans on scraping the last of Biden’s regulations of power plant emissions from coal.
Thankfully, renewables are much cheaper than using coal to generate electricity as of late 2026, so coal plants are getting mothballed, but those in use will be able to pollute without any repercussions from the Federal government. Unfortunately, the new elephants in the room are data centers popping up all across the U.D., which soak up so much energy that we have an all hands-on deck situation for power generation, thus old coal fired plants remain in demand and viable to generate electricity.
Tsk. Tsk. The United States was a leader on climate from the 1990s through the 2010s, but now we are a pariah. This new edict from Trump and company cements that standing. Only the next few elections can unplug the proverbial nail being hammered in the U.S. coffin.

The Trump administration plans to repeal Biden-era rules to limit the carbon dioxide emissions from power plants that drive climate change, according to three people familiar with the matter.
Lee Zeldin, Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency administrator, said the change would help reduce the cost of Americans’ electricity bills, while environmental advocates have criticized the move as increasing pollution at the expense of human health.
The regulation aimed to limit greenhouse gas emissions from gas and coal plants, with the Biden administration’s EPA estimating it would have saved thousands of lives. Power plants are the second-largest source of carbon dioxide emissions in the United States, after transportation.
In addition to that final repeal, the EPA also plans to issue a proposal to completely rescind the agency’s ability to regulate climate emissions of power plants in the first place, said the three people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
That would further solidify the repeal in February of the agency’s “endangerment finding,” which states that climate-related emissions endanger human health. That policy underpinned the vast majority of the federal government’s climate policies.
The EPA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Bloomberg News previously reported the planned regulatory changes.
Zeldin signaled last year that the agency would repeal the Biden-era power plant rules among a raft of several dozen proposals that he called “the largest deregulatory announcement in U.S. history.”
“We are proposing to repeal Obama and Biden rules that have been criticized as regulating coal, oil and gas out of existence,” Zeldin said in June 2025, when the agency formally proposed to rescind the power plant rules.
“Both proposed rules, if finalized, would deliver savings to American families on their electricity bills, and it will ensure they have the electricity that they need,” he said.
Environmental groups say the decision would benefit the very companies that drive pollution, noting the health risks of eliminating the emissions rules.
“By eliminating the power plant pollution standards, Trump is choosing to allow preventable asthma attacks, heart disease, and even deaths,” said Zealan Hoover, a former EPA senior adviser under President Joe Biden, in a statement.
“With more coal and gas being burned to power data centers, the impacts of this rollback will hit particularly hard in states like Texas, Georgia, Ohio, and Arizona where developers are racing to take advantage of this pro-polluter EPA,” Hoover added.
