The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track planetary extreme, or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😉
Main Topic: Eye Opening Eastern Hemisphere Records
Dear Diary. Strange, disturbing meteorological things are going on from China southward to Australia that need to be highlighted. First, I noticed an amazing temperature contrast from north to south across China. Apparently, what’s left of concentrated frigid Arctic air across Asia penetrated the country on Sunday while record heat was occurring in far south sections of China:
We can see the contrast all the way up to 500 millibars:
Record cold was associated with a vortex located near southern Russia and Mongolia while a heat dine extended westward from Japan to southern China.
This pattern will break down later this week, so temperature contrasts should relax:
What won’t change very fast is record heat in association with a stubborn western Australian heat dome, now getting well above 594 decameters:
By the end of this week the system scarcely weakens or moves:
Here are some recent reports as gathered together by Maximilliano Herrera:
Here are some hot forecasts from the Australian western Bureau of Meteorology:
I’ll let my readers know if we see more significant records across the Eastern Hemisphere. As usual, you can keep up with all of my reports in the following segment posted daily.
Here are more “ET’s” recorded from around the planet the last couple of days, their consequences, and some extreme temperature outlooks, as well as any extreme precipitation reports:
Here is More Climate News from Monday:
(As usual, this will be a fluid post in which more information gets added during the day as it crosses my radar, crediting all who have put it on-line. Items will be archived on this site for posterity. In most instances click on the pictures of each tweet to see each article. The most noteworthy items will be listed first.)
