The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track planetary extreme, or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😉
Main Topic: From Russia with Heat…Updated Russian Record Trends
Dear Diary. As most of my readers know, my main scientific effort to protect our climate comes from processing NCEI records, finding many warming trends to warn the public about heat to come if we don’t get our carbon pollution house in order:

Besides keeping up with U.S. record trends, I also have data for a few other countries, the largest being Russia. The NCEI database from that nation is quite sound and robust. Click on my links here to see all of my Russian charts and record count numbers:
Here are the main decadal charts for Russia:

Eastern Russia had an exceptional heatwave back in 2010, producing so many records that it skewed all-time statistics such that the 2010s are their warmest decade to this day:

As one obviously can see from this analysis, Russia and the planet is in trouble. Melting permafrost that emit both carbon and methane and more intense wildfires from Russia will intensify stresses on our fragile environment.
Here are more “ETs” recorded from around the planet the last couple of days, their consequences, and some extreme temperature outlooks, as well as any extreme precipitation reports:

(As usual, this will be a fluid post in which more information gets added during the day as it crosses my radar, crediting all who have put it on-line. Items will be archived on this site for posterity. In most instances click on the pictures of each tweet to see each article. The most noteworthy items will be listed first.)
