The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track planetary extreme, or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😜
Here is a new feature for this blog, which I will add daily. This is the latest inciteful Green News Report from my friends Desi Doyen and Brad Friedman at Progressive Voices. Hit ‘continue reading,’ listen, then hit return to see my daily topics:
Main Topic: New Heatwave Will Build in the West then Plains Over the Next Week
Dear Diary. East Coast Heatwave Bluestone has just about come and gone as of today, but what a system it was. Bluestone set records for humidity and was responsible for canceling and marring 250th 4th of July celebrations as it briefly became a CAT 4 on July 3rd and 4th. It is now Just a CAT1 in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida where some heat advisories remain:

As shown in the above depiction, we already have a CAT2 heatwave across desert areas of the Southwest. This will build and become a major heatwave by the end of this week with the name of Canaco for Canaco Phillips Oil. Company. As a reminder, my categorization and naming criteria can be read here:
Heatwave Bluestone’s heat dome got up to about 597 decameters over West Virginia on the 2nd before starting to collapse.

This next heatwave is just a baby over the Southwest as of 7/6 but will grow as its center moves north and east through next weekend:

By the time the heat dome builds across the northern Plains this weekend it will be setting records.
Except for folks in the typical torrid Southwest, everyone else enjoy a break from record heat this week. I will keep all abreast of the evolution of Heatwave Conoco as we move into the middle of July.
Here are some “ETs” recorded from around the U.S. the last couple of days, their consequences, and some extreme temperature outlooks, as well as any extreme precipitation reports:
Here is More Climate News from Monday:
(As usual, this will be a fluid post in which more information gets added during the day as it crosses my radar, crediting all who have put it on-line. Items will be archived on this site for posterity. In most instances click on the pictures of each tweet to see each article. The most noteworthy items will be listed first.)
