Extreme Temperature Diary-August 1st, 2019/North Polar Checkup

Thursday August 1st… Dear Diary. The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track United States extreme or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😉

North Polar Checkup

On Tuesday I wrote a post indicating that Greenland would have one of its hottest periods in recorded history this week:

This summer the entire Arctic area has been under tremendous warm stress from climate change. This post will compile some of the messages from reliable social sources from experts indicating just how extreme the Greenland heat wave is, what the cryosphere is doing, and how Alaska is fairing.

As far as the entire Arctic was concerned in July here was an average temperature assessment from Zack Labe:

It looks like the biggest anomaly of warmth was right over the North Pole.

All of this should be alarming for all concerned with climate and anyone worried about their children’s future. I’ll post more notes on this post in association with Arctic region warming as they cross my radar this week.
