Extreme Temperature Diary-September 19, 2019/Houston, We Have A Problem…Flooding From Imelda Now Rivals That Of Harvey

Thursday September 19th… Dear Diary. The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track United States extreme or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😉

Houston We Have A Problem…Flooding From Imelda Now Rivals That Of Harvey

We delved into the fact that the Houston Metropolitan area was becoming more prone for severe flooding, noting that Imelda had come ashore producing over 10″ in some spots yesterday. Unfortunately, Dear Diary, overnight an extremely tumultuous train echo wave pattern developed on the southern flank of now Tropical Depression Imelda producing near 40″ of rain in spots from Houston to Beaumont, and water is still poring out of the skies, hard. In this day and age of global warming tropical systems are slowing down, and if they don’t move that far inland, they don’t dissipate very rapidly. We saw that with Harvey, and now it’s Imelda’s turn to ravage Houston and Southeast Texas.

Also, Lake Charles is getting affected by the heavy rains. Portions of I-10 are under water, and water rescues are in progress. We are seeing the awful events of 2017 play out again in 2019 across the Houston/Port Author/Galveston/Beaumont/Lake Charles area.

Today I’ll be posting more notes and news on this dangerous flooding situation, with some expert analysis. As usual the most recent will be at the top of this blog. Look for more additions as Thursday progresses:

Here is more climate and weather news from Thursday:

(As usual, this will be a fluid post in which more information gets added during the day as it crosses my radar, crediting all who have put it on-line. Items will be archived on this site for posterity. In most instances click on the pictures of each tweet to see each article.)

We are still seeing some record minimum “ET” reports across the planet. Here is one:
