Extreme Temperature Diary-October 4, 2019/An Early October Heat Wave To Remember (Post Five)…One That Is Definitely Historic

Friday October 4th… Dear Diary. The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track United States extreme or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).

An October Heat Wave To Remember (Post Five)

Dear Diary. Personally Thursday was a bad day for me. Yep, my Braves lost, playing a subpar game by their standards when it comes to running the bases and relief pitching, and they had to play on a field that was in the upper 90s to start the game, which was not comfortable for fans either. And yes, the thermometer ticked up a notch from what I reported yesterday officially maxing out in Atlanta at 98°F. Half of the past summers we experience in Atlanta it doesn’t get this hot, let alone in October. Sigh.

At least this will be the last day of high heat here due to the passage of a backdoor front on Saturday, but the Braves, Cardinals and baseball fans will experience another hot time this afternoon and evening, and points south and west of Atlanta will see a weekend of more record heat. Climate change is now becoming a real pain affecting our day to day lives, even our pastime. This situation is even worse in Texas:

Without further adoo here are more notes from experts on this historic fall heat wave (and record temperatures in general):

I’ll be frequently posting some “ET” statements from Thursday 10/3 and Friday, 10/4/2019.

(This list will get very long as we move through Friday):

Here is more climate and weather news from Friday:

(As usual, this will be a fluid post in which more information gets added during the day as it crosses my radar, crediting all who have put it on-line. Items will be archived on this site for posterity. In most instances click on the pictures of each tweet to see each article.)

And one big “ET” from overseas:
