Thursday September 3rd… Dear Diary. The main purpose of this ongoing blog will be to track United States extreme or record temperatures related to climate change. Any reports I see of ETs will be listed below the main topic of the day. I’ll refer to extreme or record temperatures as ETs (not extraterrestrials).😉
Main Topic: Update On Western Heatwave Chort
Dear Diary. It’s time for a checkup on our developing western heatwave named Chort. Here are current heatwave advisories out for the United States:
Most of the Southwest has either heat warnings, advisories or watches. By the way, the “ghost” of Heatwave Beelzebub is being experienced from Texas into the Southeast where some advisories are posted.
Speaking of our two named U.S. heatwaves for this year, Beelzebub and Chort, it will be useful to use nomenclature to refer to these events. For example, at the peak of Beelzebub at CAT3 near CAT4 status Death Valley saw a near all-time max of 130°F. Chort should produce a maximum reading there somewhere in the 120s for comparisons sake.
For Friday:

Has the forecast changed since Tuesday? No.
The following are more news and notes in association with our western heat:
