Main Topic: New Study Indicates That Concurrent Northern Hemisphere Heatwaves Are Becoming Seven Times More Frequent Than During The 1980s
Dear Diary. As my readers know, my radar is attuned for every time a new peer reviewed study on heatwaves or our changing climate gets published. This week we see that another study has been published on the frequency and severity of Northern Hemisphere heatwaves related to overall global warming.
Today for our main subject I am publishing a Twitter thread by the study’s authors. This information is alarming considering that since the 1980s average global temperatures have warmed by only about .1-.3°C above preindustrial conditions. My friend, Dr. Jeff Masters, fears that simultaneous drought conditions across the planet will detrimentally affect food supplies in the very near future. This new research backs up his fears:
